Mission Impossible has always been famous for its extra ordinary action and marvelous story line. Recent release, apart from its tremendous action, got my attention due to the world’s tallest structure, Burj Khalifa. It is the masterpiece of man made structures on the face of Earth. Simply Awesome.
Since we all studies about Moment of Inertia, or we can say Rotational Inertia, in our Science lectures, I would like to raise a query from that topic now. Did skyscrapers affect the Moment of Inertia of Earth’s rotation??
For those who don’t know what Moment of Inertia is, Here is the definition in simple words; it is the measure of the object’s resistance to change to its rotation. It also describes that how difficult it is to change its angular motion about a axis. Figure skaters who begin to spin with arm outstretched provide striking example. By pulling in their arms, they reduce their moment of inertia, causing them to spin faster. I think I made myself clear here. J
Since we are talking about Bruj Khalifa lets take this concept in context to rotation of earth. Do you think that rotation of Earth has been affected by Burj Khalifa or any other skyscraper?
How much the earth's rotation been slowed by skyscraper?? How much the length of the day has been increased or decreased?
